Our Wrapping Process

Ad Wraps Plus uses the 3M Scrotchprint System for wrapping your vehicle or boat. This process incorporates special software, quality printing inks, superior vinyl materials and laminates that meet and often exceed the standard in this industry. Below is a quick step-by-step list of the process involved:

After accepting our quote, the job begins by working with our talented art department creating a custom design you will be thrilled to display. On some occasions, customers come to us with a design already layed out. But most often, we’ll work with you from the ground up creating a professional, custom artwork layout. In either case, our artists will work with you until your satisfied with the outcome.

Upon completion of the approved artwork, Ad Wraps Plus begins the print out phase of your custom ad wrap. Depending on your application your artwork is printed onto quality 3M removable vinyl film, electrostatic perforated window film, or reflective film and covered with laminate to protect your custom art for many years to come.

The characteristics of the film and the contours of the vehicle will determine how well the custom graphic application will perform and will determine the thickness of vinyls used. Various forms of dirt and grease are found on vehicles; therefore, industry standard cleaners are used to remove these contaminants prior to graphic application. Primers are added where needed to aide in vinyl adhesion.

Once the vehicle is properly prepared, the vinyl film is applied to the vehicle. Stretching and the use of an industry standard squeegee to smooth over the contours in the vehicle are required to adhere the vinyl to the vehicle’s surface. In areas with tight contours, a heatgun in combination with a squeegee is often required to properly adhere the vinyl to the vehicle.

Finally, after the graphics have been applied and the vinyl smoothed out over the vehicles flat, contour and concave surfaces, a heat gun is used at approximately 200° F to aide in the bonding of the vinyl in complex areas. This insures a proper bond and long life for your new custom vehicle ad wrap.
